...more How do I use it?Firstly, via the large finger operated ‘easy to read’ touch screen, enter all farm paddock details and save.
“Tare” the sensor to determine the distance from ground to the sensor (this is then stored in the memory). Select the paddock to be measured, activate the “Start Reading” by touch screen, travel over the area to be measured and press “Stop reading”. The results are then displayed and further selections, like choose to save can be made. How does it work?The APR takes multiple measurements of distances between pasture height and its sensor.
The average pasture measurement above ground is then displayed as height (cm) and Dry Matter (kg DM/ha); or DM available per animal for that paddock. Results for all paddocks can be saved and later retrieved. How accurate is it?The graph below demonstrates APR results as determined from a rye/clover pasture compared to actual pasture available.
